PRICING METHODOLOGY

How FixCostCheck pricing works

Our goal is to give homeowners a useful planning reference without pretending that a website can know the exact price of a job it has not inspected.

1. Project planning ranges

Each supported project starts with a broad low-to-high planning range. The range is intended for budgeting and quote comparison. It is not a bid, appraisal, or guaranteed local market price.

2. Regional labor adjustment

Where our installed ZIP and metro data supports it, the estimator may use Bureau of Labor Statistics employee wage information as a regional labor signal. Employee wages are not contractor billing rates. Only an assumed labor portion of the project range is adjusted; materials and other costs are not automatically treated as local.

3. ZIP limitations

A ZIP code helps us select the nearest supported regional wage proxy. It does not mean we have surveyed contractors in that ZIP. Some areas use a broader metro, state nonmetropolitan, or national baseline. The estimator tells you which level it used.

4. Good / Fair / High quote labels

If you enter a contractor quote, FixCostCheck compares that number with the displayed planning range. Good means below the range, Fair means inside it, and High means above it. These labels describe only the numerical comparison. They are not a recommendation to accept or reject a bid.

5. Why real quotes vary

Access, project size, hidden damage, materials, permits, licensing, insurance, urgency, cleanup, disposal, warranties, travel minimums and local demand can all change a real price. Compare itemized scopes whenever possible.

6. Contractor independence

FixCostCheck is an informational comparison service, not a contractor. Approved network contractors are independent businesses. Google Maps fallback results are also independent and are not FixCostCheck-approved.
